Mountain Dew A.M.: Taco Bell introduces new breakfast beverage
Can't decide between a refreshing soda and a glass of heart-healthy juice in the morning? Taco Bell doesn't want you to have to choose anymore, apparently.
As Consumerist reports, the national fast-food chain has introduced Mountain Dew A.M. in at least one market. It's a mix of Mountain Dew soda and orange juice.
A user on Reddit posted a photo of a promotional sign for it on the site over the holiday weekend, which quickly went viral.
Taco Bell's new drink invention comes on the heels of the introduction of the Doritos Locos Taco, which is a standard Taco Bell hard taco with a shell made of Doritos Nacho Cheese chips.
According to Fox News, the beverage is being tested in Taco Bell's Fresno and Southern California markets.
"We’re pleased with the initial reaction from our customers," a Taco Bell spokesman told Fox News in an email.
According to official statistics from Pepsi, the company that produces Mountain Dew, an 8-ounce serving of the soda has 110 calories and 31 grams each of sugar and sodium. Taco Bell doesn't list nutritional information for its servings of orange juice, but according to Self's data, 8 ounces of juice can have as many as 21 grams of sugar as well.
