A Spotsylvania man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend after she caught him cheating on her.
Roland Thomas Smith II, 32, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding in connection to an incident at a motel on May 11.
Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office officials say responding deputies found a 36-year-old woman with a stab wound to the abdomen at the Econolodge Hotel in the 5300 block of Jefferson Davis Highway in Fredericksburg. The victim told authorities that Smith, who tried to flee the scene, had just stabbed her.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Deputies say Smith had blood on his hands and a knife in his possession upon arrest. He is being held without bond.
