Takoma Park robbery suspect slashes at 13-year-old girl
A 13-year-old girl fought off a potential robber in Takoma Park on Monday, and police are on the hunt for the man who accosted her.
Takoma Park Police say that at about 5:15 p.m. on May 21, the victim was walking home from a school bus stop on Glenside Drive near Anne Street when she was stopped by a Hispanic man in his mid 20s. Police say the man then demanded property from the girl and threatened her with an unknown weapon.
When the victim refused, police say he man slashed at her arms with the weapon. In defense, the girl swung her backpack at the suspect, knocking him down and allowing her to flee home. She was not seriously injured.
A subsequent sweep of the area using K9 units did not locate the suspect, who was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call Takoma Park Police.
