According to an annual ranking compiled by Florida International University professor and coastal expert Stephen P. Leatherman, “Dr. Beach,” San Diego’s Coronado Beach comes in first, USA Today reported.

The 1.5-mile-long beach stretch is also home to the Hotel del Coronado, the site where Marilyn Monroe starred in the 1959 classic Some Like it Hot.
The ranking was based on various issues: public safety, noise, water quality and sand softness, USA Today said.
