Tyrone Strickland arrested for carrying weapon on Capitol Heights Elementary School property
An 18-year-old has been arrested for having a gun on the grounds of Capitol Heights Elementary School.
Police say Tyrone Strickland, of Capitol Heights, was booked on three firearm charges.
On May 23, officers responded to reports of a male, wearing a red shirt with long dreadlocks, pulling a gun from his waistband and waiving it in the air. Upon arrival, they saw Strickland taking off his shirt while walking away from the school’s playground, police say. Officers also found a Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum revolver handgun next to a slide on the playground.
Police say Strickland later admitted to possessing the handgun. He is being held at the Upper Marlboro Department of Corrections.
