University of Maryland hit-and-run suspect caught on Route 1
May 1, 2012 - 04:29 pm
The driver in an alleged hit-and-run on the University of Maryland campus was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
University of Maryland Police officials say that 19-year-old Briana Fuentez of Hyattsville was charged with fleeing the scene of an accident after she allegedly struck a male student on Campus Drive between Paint Branch Drive and Regents Drive.
The victim was taken to an area trauma center. Surveillance video shows that the driver drove directly into the victim, who rolled onto the hood and then onto the grass. The driver kept going and never stopped.
Fuentez, who was driving with a learner's permit without proper supervision, was later found driving on Route 1.
