Alexandria City Public Schools offering free summer meals
Alexandria City Public Schools is offering free breakfast and lunch to students, starting Monday.
The Summer Food Service Program is designed to fill the nutrition gap during summer months.
The School Nutrition Association, a national, non-profit professional organization, is sponsoring the program, which is being offered at 31 locations throughout Alexandria.
The federally-funded initiative is available to all students under age 18.
Alexandria City Public Schools nutrition director Becky Domokos-Bays appeared on ABC7’s Good Morning America to talk about how the program is helping students get the nutritious meals they need.
