A number of cooling centers will be open in areas throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia to assist people in getting out of the searing heat.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency recommends that in times of extreme heat, you should stay indoors as much as possible and stay well hydrated. You should also dress in loose-fitting, light clothing.
