Daybreak Daily’s afternoon groove to the pop-culture beat finds a lot of bass, a shrinking former child star, other things, and the mystery music video.
IT’S THE PULSE: It also is all the rage with a bullet, per the New York Times, “After years on the margins, the blaring, pulsating sound of electronic dance music is ascendant, and Las Vegas has embraced the trend the only way it knows how: by going all in. Casino nightclubs that a few years ago were devoted to hip-hop now compete to sign dance acts to million-dollar contracts, and they market these once invisible musicians as superstars.” http://nyti.ms/LVKUAJ
MEANWHILE: Look who’s joining the craze, per People, “Joe Manganiello brought the heat during a weekend getaway at Las Vegas's Hard Rock Hotel & Casino – where the True Blood hottie partied by the pool. In Sin City to host the weekly Rehab pool party, the hunky actor spent time hanging out with the hotel's resident deejays outside.” http://bit.ly/L2DiSZ
AND MORE: Of of sensory overload, per Rolling Stone, “Electric Daisy Carnival, Insomniac Events' three-day dusk-til-dawn dance music festival, touched down at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the second year in a row this weekend. A staple of the Los Angeles rave scene for years, the event now adopts Sin City's spirit of excess to deliver an all-out sensory overload.” http://bit.ly/KB6HgZ
HOT WATER AGAIN?: per PerezHilton, Lindsay Lohan may have misled the cops, “According to authorities, while she was in the hospital post-car accident this past Friday, she told police she wasn’t actually driving the porsche that smashed into an 18-wheeler, but that she was actually riding shot-gun. But UH-OH — Lilo’s assistant had already told police that Lindsay WAS behind the wheel of the Porsche.” http://bit.ly/N8cqSF
SKINNY GIRL: And Miley Cyrus keeps on shedding those pounds, per the Daily Mail, “She's been displaying a shrinking frame over the last few months. But now Miley Cyrus is displaying an even tinier figure by emphasising her small waste in a tight corset. . . While she has defended herself against accusations of an eating disorder she has vociferously promoted her 'gluten-free diet' which has in itself attracted criticism.” http://bit.ly/Lqxst4
WHITNEY HOUSTON: How her death affected the Grammys and executive producer Ken Erlilch, per the AP, “Ehrlich said that about an hour before he heard about Houston, he'd experienced a career high: Paul McCartney, who was set to close the show, asked if he might perform a Beatles medley from "Abbey Road," and maybe it could include a guitar jam with the likes of Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh and Bruce Springsteen. The number came together just before Houston's death.” http://apne.ws/LWXhMU
OBIT: Just the facts, per the AP, “Ann Rutherford, the demure brunette actress who played the sweetheart in the long-running Andy Hardy series and Scarlett O'Hara's youngest sister in "Gone With the Wind," has died. She was 94.” http://apne.ws/L3XlQZ
HMMMMM: One party says its product was stolen by another, per Deadline Hollywood, “ABC has just filed its opposition to CBS’ request for a temporary restraining order that would halt production on the reality show Glass House and prevent its June 18 premiere, for which ABC says it has already spent over $16 million in marketing.” http://bit.ly/LQq0XY
MARILYN MONROE: The fake version, per The Hollywood Reporter, “Digicon Media holds a copyright on "Virtual Marilyn" and plans to feature the projected blond bombshell singing and interacting alongside live music stars. But months of correspondence obtained by The Hollywood Reporter indicates that the Monroe estate is closely watching Digicon's activities, and if the show goes on, there could be a big lawsuit.” http://bit.ly/Ky2cpr
NOT DOING SO WELL: If she had to do it over again. . .per the Los Angeles Times, “Has OWN, the struggling Oprah Winfrey network, finally jumped the shark? The announcement that Winfrey will sit down with Kim Kardashian and her entire family for a segment of "Oprah's Next Chapter" might suggest that OWN may be entering a heightened state of desperation in its hunger for ratings.” http://lat.ms/MpaNgl
CAT FIGHT: Meow, per the Huffington Post, “Lady Gaga took some time out of Thursday's concert in New Zealand to address detractors who "make a mockery of" her work. Though she didn't call out Madonna by name, the rest of her comments seemed to point directly at the veteran popstar.” http://huff.to/NuMgIL
