Eugene C. Mills, III dies in Afghanistan

A Marine from Laurel, Maryland died in Afghanistan on Friday, the Department of Defense announced.

Lance Cpl. Eugene C. Mills, III, 21, was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom at the time of his death. Mills was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force based at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

The DoD says he died in the Helmand province.

MIlls' family went to Dover, Delaware Sunday where his body was returned to the U.S.
