J'ron Brown ID'd as victim in fatal Southeast shooting
D.C. police have made an arrest in a Southeast homicide.
Derrick Babb, 23, was arrested and charged with murder two while armed in connection with the shooting death of 24-year-old J'ron Brown.
The shooting came before a morning-long barricade that ended late Wednesday morning, with Babb in custody, police say.
The shooting occurred along the 1700 block of 17th Street SE. Brown was reportedly shot in the chest.
According to D.C. police, it was an active homicide investigation, where a large police presence was in the area.
Several roads in the area were closed, including portions of R Street SE, 16th Street SE, 17th Street SE and Ridge Road SE, police say.
