George Huguely wants wrongful death lawsuit venue changed
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Lawyers for a former University of Virginia lacrosse player convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend are seeking a new venue for the trial of a wrongful death lawsuit against him.
Media outlets report that George Huguely's lawyers filed a motion requesting a change of venue Wednesday in Charlottesville Circuit Court.
The motion argues that Huguely can't get a fair trial in Charlottesville. Another defense motion filed Wednesday says the lawsuit doesn't present enough evidence to support its allegations.
In February, jurors in Charlottesville Circuit Court found the Chevy Chase, Md., man guilty of second-degree murder and grand larceny in the May 2010 death of Yeardley Love of suburban Baltimore. Love's mother, Sharon Love, filed the lawsuit April 26.
