Georgetown playing game on aircraft carrier in November 2012
The Georgetown Hoyas will play the Florida Gators in a game on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Florida this season, according to a report from Andy Katz of ESPN.
Katz says on ESPN.com that multiple sources from the SEC and Big East say that the Gators and Hoyas will play on a ship off the coast of Jacksonville, Fla. on Nov. 9.
The game is one of three that's scheduled to play on a ship on the first day of the 2012-13 men's college basketball season. All of them involve teams from the Big East, Katz reports.
On Veteran's Day last year, the North Carolina Tar Heels and Michigan State Spartans played in the inaugural Carrier Classic on the USS Carl Vinson.
With President Barack Obama among the 8,000 fans watching that game, the Tar Heels beat the Spartans 67-55 on the ship, which sat off the coast of San Diego.
The Hoyas are already scheduled to play in this year's Maui Invitational, taking on opponents including Kansas and Memphis.
