The Washington Post reports that Harry Thomas Jr. spoke to about 200 supporters Friday evening at a church in northeast Washington. The 51-year-old is scheduled to report to a federal prison camp in Montgomery, Ala., on Wednesday. He received a 38-month sentence, and with good behavior, he could be released as early as February 2015.

Thomas admitted taking funds earmarked for youth sports programs and spending them on luxury vehicles, travel and golf.

He told his supporters not to worry about him, and he thanked them for their forgiveness. A benefit fund for Thomas' his wife and three children was announced.
