Janet Jones dines with Obama at Lincoln restaurant
Acokeek resident Janet Jones often spends her time attending to her aging father and ailing husband. But on Friday, she had lunch with one of the most powerful men in the world.
Jones and three other donors were picked by the Obama to have lunch with the president at D.C.’s Lincoln restaurant.
Over her chicken pot pie, Jones says the president asked her about the movie "Red Tails,” which depicts the challenges of the Tuskegee airmen, the first black military pilots who served during WWII.
Jones’ father is Dr. Milton Holmes, a Tuskegee airmen and long-time Maryland civil rights leader.
Jones says Obama's historic election as the first African-American president helped her father through a critical time in his life.
She left the luncheon taking a little something home and a piece of history she can pass on to her children and grandchildren.
