Jewel: June Carter Cash role leads to makeover with new teeth

Daybreak Daily’s afternoon nod toward the pop-culture world finds a Jewel in the rough, a lot of twangin,’ other things, and the mystery music video.
DENTAL WORK: That one stray tooth always looked kind of funky, per Us Weekly, “Jewel has completely changed her look to resemble the late June Carter Cash for her role in Lifetime's upcoming biopic, The June Carter Cash Story. Jewel tweeted the first photo of her makeover on Tuesday, writing, "Here I am as June in my trailer with her blue eyes and perfect teeth." http://bit.ly/Midnp7
WHO KNEW?: Mitt as a country music fan, per E!, “The CMTs kicked up some hype for the pairing of Toby Keith and Kristen Bell as cohosts with a video chronicling their fierce battle to be a solo host. Matthew McConaughey, Jon Bon Jovi, 60 Minutes' Steve Kroft, and no less than President Barack Obama and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney weighed in—and it was funny! “ http://eonli.ne/LAftxw
PLUGGING LEAKS: That’s the plan, anyway, per the Guardian, “The information commissioner has launched an investigation after Virgin Atlantic confirmed that an employee passed private flight details of about 70 celebrities – including Princess Beatrice and Madonna's children – to a global picture agency. Virgin Atlantic called in the UK's data protection watchdog after it confirmed that travel details for Sienna Miller, Russell Brand and dozens of other celebrities had been leaked to London-based Big Pictures.” http://bit.ly/Levtqo
KATE MIDDLETON: Of comfortable shoes, per the Daily Mail, “She wore them to the Epsom Derby last June. To Prince Philip’s 90th birthday at Windsor. To attend Zara Phillips’s wedding, and on a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. On tour in Canada and the U.S., she was seen in them six times. On Sunday, she chose them for the Royal Barge. And on Tuesday she put them on to attend the service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s cathedral. Just what is it about Kate and her ($286) pair of LK Bennett nude patent courts?” http://bit.ly/KeCtXz
HANOI JANE?: Not really, per the Los Angeles Times, “Now 74 and in her self-described “third act,” Jane Fonda is clear-eyed, focused, fit, relaxed — and busier than ever. Her new film, “Peace, Love & Misunderstanding,” opens Friday in limited release, with Fonda playing an aging Woodstock hippie named Grace. Directed by Bruce Beresford (“Driving Miss Daisy”), the movie revolves around Grace, who is thrilled when her conservative attorney daughter Diane (Catherine Keener), whom she hasn’t seen in 20 years, arrives at her doorstep with her two teenage children.” http://lat.ms/MimS7N
EMELI SANDE: New sound with old sounds, per the New York Times, “The story of the recent British soul revival is the story of ghosts. Artists like Adele and Amy Winehouse succeeded as much because of the memories they conjured with their reference points as because of their talent. . . Emeli Sandé does the same on her striking debut album, “Our Version of Events” (Capitol), which was released this week.” http://nyti.ms/KJUCMm
TWITTER TROUBLE: Enough already, per the Huffington Post, “Gwyneth Paltrow's Twitter has been in the news after she sent out a message that included the title of "N----s in Paris," a Jay-Z and Kanye West song. Paltrow was apparently on stage at the Paris stop of the rap duo's "Watch the Throne" tour.” http://huff.to/KixCOz
NOT WINNING: And then a lot of cursing, per TMZ, “Charlie Sheen went insane at the Staples Center Wednesday night, after a security guard told him he couldn't re-enter the stadium after taking a smoke break -- and it's all caught on video. . . Staples has a policy of not letting people in once they walk out. Charlie left the stadium without ever getting back in. He told TMZ, "Bad juju. Clash of the silly." http://bit.ly/KiAxqy
SWITCHING SIDES: Maybe the grass is greener, per Deadline Hollywood, “Six weeks after Joel Silver and Warner Bros agreed to sever their 25-year relationship by the end of the year, the producer has plans to set up shop as an indie filmmaker at Universal.” http://bit.ly/LwDzHN
FAKE ELVIS: But still so real, per Rolling Stone, “Elvis will in fact be getting his own hologram, according to Digital Domain Media Group. The group has teamed with Core Media Group to create a virtual Elvis, which will appear on film, television and other media, with concerts apparently an option as well.” http://bit.ly/LecFYm
DUBIOUS STORY: Or not, or maybe, or something, per the AP, “An "America's Got Talent" singer whose Afghanistan War injury claims have been called into question wouldn't face vetting by producers unless he made it into the final rounds, according to a person familiar with the production.” http://apne.ws/KkybJF
AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video. http://bit.ly/NjMJxx
