Kaywone Wills, Southeast teen killed in scooter-car collision
Updated: June 25, 2012 - 09:23 am
A 14-year-old boy was killed late Saturday night when a scooter he was operating hit a speed bump and collided with a car in Southeast Washington, police say.
Police determined that Kaywone Wills, a Southeast D.C. resident, and another boy who was a passenger on the scooter were traveling northeast in the 2200 block of Hunter Place SE at about 7:20 p.m. Saturday.
When the scooter hit the speed bump, Wills lost control, swerved, and hit a car head on, which had been traveling in the opposite direction.
The car had come to a stop before the scooter hit it, police say.
Both boys were taken to a hospital where Wills was pronounced dead. The passenger of the scooter was treated for minor injuries and released.
