A Prince George’s County deputy sheriff is facing second degree rape charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a female inmate at the county courthouse.
The deputy sheriff, Lamar McIntyre, has been with the sheriff’s office since September 2009. He has been taken into custody.
Prince George’s County Police stated that a 34-year-old female inmate at the Department of Corrections told authorities that McIntyre sexually assaulted her while she was awaiting trial at the courthouse.
McIntyre admitted to police that he was involved in the incident, police say.
He is being held at the Department of Corrections on a $75,000 bond.
Prince George’s County police will lead the investigation.
