Mary Cheney marries Heather Poe in Washington

The daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, who is an open lesbian, married her partner, Heather Poe, on Friday in Washington.

"Mary and Heather have been in a committed relationship for many years," Cheney said in a statement to ABC News. "We are delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized."

The 43-year-old Cheney, the second daughter of Dick and his wife, Lynne, has a son and a daughter.
