Metro Transit Police shooting kills man in Lanham
A Metro Transit Police officer shot and killed a man Wednesday afternoon who they wanted to question about a possible abduction, officials say.
Prince George's County Fire officials confirm that the suspect was shot and killed at about 12:30 p.m. in the 7100 block of Lory Lane in Lanham, about three miles northwest of the New Carrollton Metro station.
Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says that officers went to the man's home to question him about a possible attempted abduction that took place Sunday at the Minnesota Avenue Metro station when he became combative. He then came out of the house with a gun, Stessel said.
The suspect then opened fire, officials say, while officers were retreating to their vehicles. Officers returned fire, and during the shooting, the man was hit and killed.
