Military plane mistaken for UFO in College Park
An unidentified flying object was allegedly spotted in the College Park area overnight, as seen in this Twitter picture. But sadly, for those hoping the object was a real UFO, officials say it was a rather large military plane instead.
Still, the mistaken “UFO” had some drivers doing a double take Wednesday night. Many tweeted pictures of the object, with captions like this one: “UFO landed 2 lights from my house.”
Maryland State Police told ABC7 News that the military plane was being escorted from West Virginia to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in southern Maryland.
The plane is reportedly 82 feet long, 32 feet wide and 14 feet high.
Here's some of the response to Thursday night's "UFO" sighting on Twitter:
I-495 in Maryland. If this is really aliens that means I'm off work tomorrow. #Winninginstagr.am/p/L1wzC0mC_i/ #beltwayufo

That's what happens when ET parks in DC without a parking permit. #BeltwayUFO

Don't worry, that's not an alien spacecraft, just a flying military robot. Totally normal sentence in 2012. I love the future. #beltwayufo
