Moderate alcohol drinking safe for pregnant women, study finds
Women have long been told it's a cardinal sin to drink alcohol while pregnant, but, a new study finds it may actually be safe in moderation.
Researchers found children of moms who drank no more than eight alcoholic beverages a week did not show any signs of developmental effects.
The Danish study found that “low and moderate weekly alcohol consumption in early pregnancy is not associated with adverse neuropsychological effects in children aged five…however, high levels of alcohol per week were linked with a lower attention span among five year olds.”
But, the study's authors warn women should still err on the side of caution, saying there has been no safe level of alcohol consumption established.
