WASHINGTON (AP) - The District of Columbia's chief financial officer has been nominated for another five-year term and faces a confirmation hearing in the D.C. Council.

Earlier in June, Mayor Vincent Gray nominated Natwar Gandhi to continue serving as the city's CFO.

Now he is poised to be confirmed for another term. A hearing is set for Thursday.

Gandhi has served as CFO for 12 years. During that time, a federal control board released its grip on D.C. finances, and the district had balanced budgets.

The city's credit rating also has been elevated. Some D.C. Council members, though, question Gandhi's conservative fiscal estimates that lead to cuts when the city later sees a budget surplus.

Gandhi tells The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/LDQr5I) he's proud of his record in creating financial stability in the district.
