RFK assassination anniversary: Man who arrested assassin talks to ABC7
June 5, 2012 - 07:42 am
This day, 44 years ago, an assassin shot and killed Robert F. Kennedy moments after he won California’s Democratic Presidential Primary.
His killer, a man named Sirhan Sirhan, was quickly caught. The man who arrested him, retired police officer Arthur Placencia, joined ABC7’s Steve Chenevey.
At the time of the arrest, Placencia said that he was only 21 and just three weeks out of the police academy.
Placencia will be donating the handcuffs he used to arrest Sirhan to the National Law Enforcement Museum in D.C. on Tuesday evening.
