Temple Hills sexual assault suspect sought
A suspect is being sought by Prince George's County Police in the sexual assault of a teenage girl.
The assault happened at about 11:10 p.m. this past Tuesday night near the intersection of Easy Street and Kingston Drive in Temple Hills. Police say that the suspect walked up behind a pair of sisters - aged 15 and 26 - threatened them with a handgun and ordered them into a nearby wooded area.
Police then say the suspect began sexually assaulting the younger sister. The older sister came to her aid and allowed the teen to escape, but not before the suspect hit the 26-year-old several times. He then fled on foot, police say.
The older sister was treated and released from an area hospital.
The attack has neighbors in a normally quiet Temple Hills neighborhood on edge, including Brooke Blackwell and her two children.
"They usually just play up and down the driveway here, but now I am concerned about them coming out here at all," she said.
Prince George's County Police officials describe the suspect as a thin, black male standing 6 feet to 6-foot-3 with a medium complexion. His face was covered by a black cloth during the assault.
In the meantime, county police are advising residents not to go out alone.
"My daughter and I do a lot of walking, so we'll start walking in pairs or have one of my sons walking with us," neighborhood resident Marveta White said. "I seriously doubt we'll be walking alone out here again."
