Va. Lottery: $250K lottery prize to expire June 20
June 14, 2012 - 07:39 am
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Time is about to run out for the holder of a Mega Millions ticket worth $250,000.
Virginia Lottery officials say no one has stepped forward to claim the prize for the ticket that was bought for the Dec. 23 drawing.
The ticket will be worthless if it goes unclaimed by 5 p.m. on June 20. By law, winning tickets expire 180 days after a drawing.
Unclaimed prize money goes to the state Literary Fund, which helps pay for school construction and teacher retirement.
WAVY-TV (http://bit.ly/LmkERs) reports the ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in Virginia Beach.
