Washington Capitals 2012 preseason schedule released

The Washington Capitals will play three of their seven preseason games at Verizon Center, the team announced Tuesday.

The Capitals preseason schedule, which will begin Sept. 25, includes visits to D.C. from the Boston Bruins, Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings.

The Charm City will also  play host to the 2nd annual Baltimore Hockey Classic, when the Capitals take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sept. 26 at 1st Mariner Arena.

Washington will take the road to face Detroit, Columbus and Boston to round out the exhibition schedule. The team's regular season schedule will be released later this summer.
