A woman was sexually assaulted at a public parking garage at the Ballston Mall on Wednesday. 

Arlington County police say it was 2:30 p.m. Wednesday when a 23-year-old woman left the mall after shopping and was just steps away from her car when a man rushed up behind her. He lifted up her skirt and sexually assaulted the victim with his hand.

The woman screamed and her attacker ran off. She got into her car, drove out of the parking garage and got about two blocks away then called 911.

This parking lot is a busy place, especially in the middle of the day. Traffic constantly streams by.

On the same fourth floor parking level where the assault took place, Deborah Nathan is flanked by her sons.

“I'm absolutely shocked that no one saw it and was able to stop it,” she says.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 17 and 25 years old, about 6 feet tall and weighing 170 pounds.
