BWI possible hazmat situation investigated
A possible hazmat incident at BWI Thurgood Marshall airport has been resolved.
Southwest Airlines flight 709 was flying from Norfolk to Baltimore before continuing to Chicago.
During the flight, members of the crew became ill. The plane landed at 4:25 p.m without incident.
An Anne Arundel County hazmat team took air samples and a cleaning solvent was found on the plane. The fumes had made some crew members sick.
Two flight crew members were taken to a hospital for observation.
Arrangements were made for all passengers to continue to Chicago on other planes.
Southwest says there were 134 passengers and five crew members on board.
