James Arthur Zito arrested as suspect in mother's stabbing
A 21-year-old man who police say stabbed his mother several times at their Millersville home has been found and taken into custody, Anne Arundel County Police say.
Officials say that James Arthur Zito was found and detained outside the Glen Burnie Mall at about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.
On Monday, Anne Arundel County Police say Zito became violent and had to be restrained by two family members inside the home. He later stabbed his 54-year-old mother several times in the upper body before fleeing toward Red Birch Road, police say.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police do not know why Zito allegedly became violent.
Police say Zito would be charged with first degree assault and related charges when he was located. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment after being found.
