Manassas Mall diamond ring thief sought by police
Prince William County Police are on the hunt for a man who robbed a Manassas jewelry store of a diamond ring valued at nearly $17,000 late last week.
Police say that the robbery happened at the Shaw's Jewelers inside Manassas Mall just before 9 p.m. on July 5. Officials say the suspect, who was caught on surveillance cameras running through the mall, asked a store employee to see a diamond ring.
When he was handed the ring, valued at $16,700, the man ran out and disappeared. He was last seen exiting the parking lot of the mall near Macy's.
The lookout for the suspect, according to police, is a 40 to 45-year-old black male who stands 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds. Police say he had short black hair, brown eyes and a muscular build and was last seen wearing all-black clothing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Prince William County Police.
