ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The residents of four nursing homes in Maryland are feeling the heat, because they are still without air conditioning in the aftermath of last week's storm.

Fran Phillips, deputy secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, said Monday that there are a total of 33 nursing homes still don't have power.

Most of them are working off generators, but four do not.

Phillips says state health officials are working closely with local officials to make sure those residents are safe and are being cared for in a stable manner.

The state now has 58 cooling centers open to provide relief to people who do not have air conditioning.
