Mayor Vincent Gray: D.C. Republicans call for Gray's resignation
Programming note: D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray is scheduled to appear on NewsTalk with Bruce DePuyt on Friday morning. You can watch it live at 10 a.m. at news8.net.
D.C. Republicans are the latest political leaders to urge Mayor Vincent Gray to resign.
The pressure comes after another person connected to his 2010 mayoral campaign pleaded guilty to campaign fraud charges.
The D.C. Republican Committee released the following statement Thursday:
"It’s time for the Mayor to do what’s best for the District and resign. The only way forward is with new leadership for our city. While it is still unclear if the Mayor knew about the shadow campaign during his election, the fact is, the Mayor did not disclose to the public what he did know shortly after the election. This is truly unacceptable," stated Bob Kabel, Chairman of the DC Republican Committee
“We appreciate the work the Mayor has done, especially his outreach to DC Republicans. Cover-ups of this magnitude have no place in the Wilson Building and we believe it is time for both the Mayor and DC voters to move on,” concluded Kabel.
The political committee joins D.C. councilmembers David Catania, Muriel Bowser and Mary Cheh, who have all called on Gray to step down.
