HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Metro says service on the Green Line has returned to normal following a partial derailment in Prince George's County.

Green Line trains are now running on both tracks, and crews have fixed a 1,000-foot section of track that was damaged during Friday's disruption.

Three cars derailed late Friday afternoon near the West Hyattsville station.

Officials say excessive heat likely caused the rails to kink and move out of alignment.

No one was injured, and 55 passengers were safely evacuated Metro ordered all of its trains to stay below 35 mph on above-ground tracks through the weekend as a precaution.

But those speed restrictions were lifted in time for the Monday morning commute.
