The microburst that hit three miles south of Fredericksburg late Sunday afternoon left behind a lot of damage. But for some residents, it was déjà vu.

Lee Truslow's house has been hit twice by microbursts. But, Sunday's was much worse than the one that took down some trees several years ago.

"II was like being at the bottom of a waterfall... shhhhhhh," Truslow recalled.

Investigators with the National Weather Service have determined Sunday's event was a microburst, generating a very powerful downward wind gust with winds up to 100 mph.

Resident Jo Wright added, "I just thought it was a tornado.. We just have to move on."

Unlike a tornado, the microburst's damage marks a straight line. For several blocks in Fredricksburg, tree tops are snapped off like toothpicks, and roof tops are ripped apart.

The severe storms ripped the roof off a dance studio, leaving it on the house next door. Now, the elderly couple that lived in the home must have it demolished.

Though several buildings are condemned, most can be repaired.

The awning on the Gulf station was also torn off. Across the street, the roof and part of the façade on a chiropractor's office building were peeled off by the high winds.

A nearby strip mall had blown out windows. And after two damaging storms within a week of each other, some local businesses are having a difficult time getting back on their feet.
