Online court records show Ramad Speight was released last week by a D.C. Superior Court judge under specific conditions.

He was arrested in March following an early-morning shootout with police officers that occurred in D.C., near the Montgomery County border.

One officer was shot in the hand. Bill Miller, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office, said Wednesday that prosecutors opposed the request and argued that Speight was a threat to the community.

Speight's public defender had no immediate comment.

Capt. Paul Starks, a Montgomery County police spokesman, said police believe Speight is a threat and are disappointed with the decision.
