Talking urinal cakes speak up to curb drunk driving
Michigan urinals aren’t just giving relief—they’re offering potential drunks some sound advice.
The Huffington Post reports talking urinal-deodorizers are showing up across the state, with a female voice urging men to call a cab or friend, if needed, to get home safely.
Once the urinal cakes are motion activated, a recorded message plays, “Hey there big guy. Having a few drinks? Then listen up."
However, not all of the messages are squeaky clean. In fact, you could say the potty has a bit of a potty mouth.
"Don't drive drunk. If you do and you get arrested, the next urinal you pee in will be in jail. With a harry guy named Bubba standing behind asking you to pick up the soap and be his BLEEP," the recording says.
The $21 cakes last about three months and were paid for with a federal grant. Similar cakes have been used in other states.
These friendly bathroom reminders are part of a Fourth of July educational and enforcement effort to crackdown on drunk driving.
