Violet Ripken kidnapping; New video of suspect released
ABERDEEN, Md. (AP) - Aberdeen police have released a video of a suspect in the kidnapping of Cal Ripken Jr.'s mother.
Police say the video released Tuesday was taken at a retail outlet in Anne Arundel County. The video shows a man in an orange cap and a light-colored coat entering and exiting the store.
Vi Ripken, the 74-year-old mother of the Hall of Fame infielder, told police she was abducted at gunpoint from her house last week, blindfolded and driven around. She was found bound but unharmed in her car last Wednesday.
Police say they don't have a motive and exploring several theories for the abduction. They say they're still investigating it as a "forced abduction not related to any medical or health conditions."
Ripken was abducted on the morning of July 24 and was found unharmed about 24 hours later. She was found about 30 miles from her Aberdeen home.
