The wife of a 29-year-old man severely beaten near Eastern Market is speaking about what happened to her husband.

Thomas Maslin was found unresponsive outside a home Saturday morning. Maslin, a solar energy analyst, went to a Nationals game Friday night and was heading home from Tune Inn bar on Pennsylvania Avenue around 12:30 a.m.

Maslin, known to family and friends as "T.C.", was possibly mugged in a park near Eastern Market. He stumbled down North Carolina Avenue, knocking on two doors for help. He was found unconscious on the front porch of a home around 8:30 Saturday morning.

Maslin has undergone two brain surgeries. Tuesday morning, he made eye contact with his wife, Abigail.

"It was the best moment of my life...I couldn't have imagined it 48 hours ago," Abigail said.

It's been his only communication so far. Abigail, a fourth grade teacher at Brent Elementary School, says the couple has a 21-month-old son named Jack.

Abigail added, "We need the faith, we need the love and we still need your prayers."

The house where Maslin was found is along the route, police say, he might have to used to get home. Sources say police found some of his belongings in the park across the street, but they can't say definitively if Maslin was robbed. What police need are witnesses.
