Song was arrested on April 3 and charged with misuse of email, disturbing the peace and other offenses.

He pleaded guilty to two of eight charges: misuse of telephone and disturbing business of a school. His sentencing was deferred so they can evaluate his progress beforehand. He is no longer required to wear GPS or stay at home, but he must maintain a 9 pm curfew and see a therapist.

Song was also ordered to do 200 hours of community service. The Prince George's County States Attorney Angela Alsobrooks is not recommending jail time because he had no criminal record and they found no weapons or even attempt to obtain weapons. He has also behaved well since the incident.

Alsobrooks said that the misuse of telephone charge prevents Song from possessing firearms. Alsobrooks says she's going to use this case to push for new legislation in Annapolis to make it a crime to make generalized threats. She also says while he had no weapons he's still dangerous because the threats could've developed into something more.

In March, Song allegedly warned on Websites that he would kill numerous people on campus. He’s now barred from campus.
