Catholic University student attacked, robbed near campus
A female Catholic University student was attacked and robbed just off campus late Monday night, officials say, and the hunt is on for a suspect in the case.
The attack happened just before 11:15 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of Lawrence Street NE, Catholic University officials say. The victim was getting out of her car when authorities say the suspect came up to her from behind, grabbed her by the neck and slammed her head against the car.
Authorities say the assault continued after the woman fell to the ground. The suspect then got into the victim's car and took her cash and a debit card.
The suspect was last seen running north toward the Brookland/CUA Metro station, which is about a block and a half away from the place where the attack happened, officials say. He has been described as a black, 5-foot-7 man in his mid 20s, wearing a black sweatshirt, jean shorts, Timberland boots and gloves.
