Cheverly apartment fire leaves one dead

CHEVERLY, Md. (AP) - Prince George's County Fire say a woman has died after an apartment fire in Cheverly.
Firefighters were called to Landover Road about 4:30 p.m. Monday to a report of a smoke alarm sounding.
Firefighters extinguished a small blaze and found an unconscious woman. She was pronounced dead at a local trauma center.
Seven people were displaced in the fire; damage was estimated at between $5,000 and $10,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The woman's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
