With a Facebook page already boasting several pictures of smooching same-sex couples, organizers of Friday's "kiss-in" protest in front of Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide are hoping to generate crowds similar to the ones that turned out Wednesday to show support for the company's CEO.

The "Kiss-In," which is slated to start at 8 p.m. across the country, is being held in response to an unofficial "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," during which earlier this week throngs of people packed the chain's stores to support Dan Cathy and the company's stance against gay marriage.

"It's a way to show Chick-Fil-A and the rest of the country that our love is just as good as heterosexual love," said Carly McGhee, the Organizer of "National Same Sex Kiss In Day."

The nationwide fast food chain has come under fire in the past several weeks after Cathy's comments to a religious media outlet saying he believes marriage is between one man and one woman. A few days later, same sex advocates planned Friday's event.

"My husband and I wouldn't sit in any particular establishment to protest or show the way that we feel about each other so I do feel like its overboard and I'm not sure what the necessity is," said Maryland resident Jaime Kirlew.

Maryland resident Dan Swisher says he has several gay friends and supports their lifestyle, but he also says he supports Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy's right to free speech.

"He provides a great service, great food at a great price, and everyone I've seen who comes in here are well-treated, and well-respected," Swisher said.

According to the official Facebook event, more than 13,000 people plan to attend and pucker up at Friday night's kissing event.
