Disaster declaration issued for D.C.
August 1, 2012 - 09:47 am
U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday issued a disaster declaration for D.C.
The declaration allows for federal aid to supplement D.C.’s efforts to recover what has been affected the severe storms that rocked the area from June 29 to July 1.
“Federal funding is available to the District of Columbia and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms in the District of Columbia,” the White House said in a statement.
