Elwood Lewis Thomas arrested, accused of touching girls at day care
A 28-year-old man who was arrested earlier this summer on allegations that he inappropriately touched a girl at an Annandale day care center may have molested more victims, police say.
Fairfax County Police say that 28-year-old Elwood Lewis Thomas, who goes by "Louie," was charged in June with two counts of aggravated sexual battery. Thomas lived at a Holyoke Drive home that housed Happy Land Daycare.
Police were informed of the alleged inappropriate contact after a 14-year-old girl accused him of touching her on numerous occasions while she attended the day care while she was 11 and 12 years old.
After the first victim came forward, investigators say that other children have come forward to allege that Thomas molested them as well.
Happy Land Daycare, which had been in operation for several years, has since closed down after the allegations. Neighbors say an older woman owns the house and her daughter runs the day care out of it.
The suspect, who is the son of the homeowner, didn't work at the day care but would often spend days inside the house with children, neighbors say.
An investigation into the alleged battery is continuing.
