Flash Flood watch issued for greater D.C. area
August 26, 2012 - 06:07 pm
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 10pm Sunday evening for portions of the Piedmont of eastern Maryland and northern Virginia, D.C. and the eastern West Virginia Panhandle, according to The National Weather Service in Sterling, Virginia.
Numerous showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain will continue to develop and move across those areas that have received at least a couple of inches of rain with an additional one to two inches possible
through late Sunday night.
Excessive rainfall could cause creeks and streams to rise and lead to flooding, the Weather Service said.
