According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and the Washington Post, the Washington Redskins have cut kicker Graham Gano to make room for kicker Billy Cundiff on the roster.

This move comes only hours after the Redskins cut Neil Rackers, who had been locked in a competition with Gano to assume the kicking duties in 2012.

In three seasons with the Redskins, Gano had a 73.8 kicking percentage, connecting on 59 of 80 attempts since 2009. In 2011, Gano went 31-for-41, including four field goals of 50 or more yards.

Cundiff had himself been cut by the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday to make way for rookie Justin Tucker to assume their place kicking duties. Cundiff missed nine field goals last year for Baltimore after making the Pro Bowl in 2010.

His biggest miss came in the waning moments of the AFC Championship game, when his potential game-tying kick went wide left, sending the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl.
