I-95 closed in Caroline County after paving incident
All north and southbound lanes of I-95 in Caroline County near the 104 mile marker are closed after a paving crew knocked wires down across all lanes of the highway.
Virginia State Police say a dump truck hit overhead power lines as crew were trying to lay asphalt in the area around 2 a.m. Tuesday. Two vehicles traveling northbound hit the downed power lines, which lie across all lanes of the highway, police said.
No injuries were reported.
Motorists traveling northbound are being diverted off at Exit 98 in Hanover County and southbound vehicles will be detoured at Exit 110 in Caroline County.
Commuters are urged to use an alternate route.
The power company is on the scene.
The closure is expected to last for several hours.
