I-95 hit-and-run leaves one dead
Virginia State Police have charged a 19-year-old woman in connection with a fatal Saturday morning hit-and-run on I-95 northbound.
Police say the victim pulled onto the right shoulder of the interstate at mile marker 162 in Fairfax County just before midnight. While he was standing next to his vehicle, he was struck by a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.
The driver of the SUV left the scene, investigators say.
The man died at the scene.
Police later found the vehicle suspected in the hit-and-run in Prince George's County, Maryland. Virginia State police say Carol Rood-Johnson of Woodbridge is charged with DUI. Investigators say additional charges are pending.
The victim's body was sent to the Medical Examiner for positive identification.
