A Glen Burnie man who threatened a "Batman-style shooting" at a child support enforcement office was arrested Friday, Annapolis Police officials say.

Authorities say that 37-year-old James Armstead called a Child Support Enforcement office in Annapolis on Tuesday and threatened to kill employees and himself in a shooting reminiscent of the one that killed 12 people in a Denver-area movie theater last month.

Armstead, who has been charged with threatening to injure a state official and two counts of phone misuse, said he would bring military-style weapons to the Anne Arundel County office, which is located on Calvert Street in downtown Annapolis.

During his arrest on Friday, though, a search of Armstead's Glen Mar Road home turned up no weapons. However, investigators did recover evidence which indicated that he was trying to obtain an AK-47.

Armstead is being held on $60,000 bond.
